Our Story

Raffia Madagascar is an interior design studio working with Malagasy artisans using our “know-how” to realize your projects while using raffia and sisal natural fibers. We are located in Moramanga, a town where mining and lumber are the main activities, which leaves vulnerable women out of work opportunities.

Our purpose is to unleash economic opportunities for women, especially single mothers, so that they can support their household and their children’s education. We already thank you for supporting our mission in contributing to the long term sustainable development of Madagascar by placing an order and by becoming a partner.

Stay true to yourself and your vision. Don’t let any one person’s opinion move you; listen, but be confident.

About raffia

The Madagascar raffia is sustainably grown and harvested.

Raffia is  made from the stripped fibers of the palmyra palm leaf, native to Madagascar. The mature leaves typically grow up to 10 meters long and 2 to 4 meters wide. The leaves are shredded along their width to get a beautifully long and strong fibre suitable for many types of crafts, bags, baskets, textile, etc. It is suitable for dying.
