Explore Madagascar
August 21 - 31, 2023
Baobab Alley | Morondava, Madagascar
explore madagascar in august 2023!
Hi there, I am so glad you stopped by! My name is Jessica Razanadrakoto, a passionate world traveler. I have fallen in love with the world, nature, and discovery ever since my parents took me to explore Madagascar from a young age. I found myself stuck between beautiful beaches and breathtaking mountains of my gorgeous island of Madagascar.
Between independent travels and sailing on a crazy adventure with Semester at Sea in 2015, I have explored over twenty countries. The often difficult question to answer when asked is, “which one has been your favorite country?” I say it’s hard to answer this question because every country is special - filled with different memories. The answer to this question may change, but what stays the same is who I meet during my journey that makes the trip special and different.
This year in August I want to personally take you - family members, friends, and individuals on an Explore Madagascar adventure, so free up your calendar from August 21-31st, 2023! To make this a fun and enjoyable trip, we want to keep it to a small group of 8-9 people maximum. Should you want to be part of this trip, make sure to book your spot by June 15, 2023.

Here’s what those ten days will look like:
WELCOME!
Day 1 - Monday August 21 – You arrive in Antananarivo (Tana) Madagascar at the Ranivala Airport. You will need $50 cash only to pay for the visa as you go through customs. If you fly with Ethiopian Airlines, we will pick you up at 1:45pm from the airport and will bring you home for a homemade cultural dinner. If you fly Air France, we will pick you up at 11:30pm with a welcome package instead of dinner.
Day 2 - Tuesday August 22 – You wake to a traditional Malagasy breakfast. After breakfast, we leave Tana for Miandrivazo. We have lunch on the way and will be staying at a charming hotel in the evening.
Day 3 - Wednesday August 23 – We wake up to a beautiful countryside sunrise scenery. After a short drive, we embark on our Masiakampy boat to cruise along the Tsiribihina River where we spend the next two and a half days on the boat.
We will have breakfast, lunch, and dinner on the boat.
In the evening, we dock on the riverside at Nosy Ampela Cascade where we set up our tents in the open nature with a camp fire. A guitar will be available for people who enjoy playing acoustic live music. Those who like to sing along are welcome to do so.
Day 4 - Thursday August 24 – We wake up at Nosy Ampela and will walk to the waterfall for a nice refreshing swim in natural pools. We eat breakfast then continue our way cruising down the Tsiribihina River. We make a few stops to visit different villages on the riverside throughout the day. Cards and board games will be available onboard or you can also just enjoy the scenery. We have lunch and dinner on the boat. We spend the second night camping at Ambatomisay Bivoaka with a camp fire animation.
Day 5 - Friday August 25 – We wake up at Ambatomisay Bivoaka where we have breakfast and make our way to Belo sur Tsiribiana. We eat lunch before we leave the boat. After lunch, we drive to Bekopaka, which is 100km away, which is 7km from the Tsingy National Park entrance where we have dinner and spend the night at a hotel.
Day 6 - Saturday August 26 – We wake up at Bekopaka and have an early breakfast. We spend our early morning at the Manambolo River then will make our way to the Grand Tsingy National Park.
Day 7 - Sunday August 27 – We leave Tsingy National Park Bekopaka at 6am after breakfast and have lunch at Belo sur Tsiribihina on our way to Morondava. We catch the sunset at the Baobab Alley, have dinner and spend the night in Morondava.
Day 8 - Monday August 28 – We wake up in Morondava where we get breakfast then make our way back to Tana. We will have lunch in Miandrivazo and dinner will be served at home in Tana.
Day 9 - Tuesday August 29 – This day is a rest free day in Tana. You are welcome to get breakfast at home or check out some cute breakfast places in Tana. Lunch will be on your own this day. We will have a bus and a driver available should you decide to take a drive around the city. Feel free to check out cute restaurants for dinner.
Day 10 - Wednesday August 31 – We will prepare you a homemade cultural breakfast before we drop you off at the Ravinala Airport. If you are flying Ethiopian Airlines, we will leave the house at 11am.
